We do not accept insurance and are considered private pay, out-of-network providers. This choice is intentional. Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis, documentation of medical necessity, and commonly access otherwise confidential information about treatment in order to cover services. This information can be shared with future employers, health insurance companies, and life insurance companies, and may impact future eligibility. Insurance companies also influence the length, frequency, and type of care you receive.
We don’t believe insurance has any place in the individual session room, and working outside of that system allows us to provide care that is guided by your needs, our clinical judgment, and the therapeutic relationship, not care that fits neatly inside of one pre-determined box. It also frees up a significant amount of administrative time that we are then able to pour into other aspects of client care outside of our one-on-one sessions, like case consultation, treatment planning, and advanced training, which we engage in regularly.
We're happy to provide superbills so you can seek reimbursement on your own (more on that below).
One note: state law prohibits us from working with clients who receive Medicaid, since Medicaid recipients are required to work with a Medicaid provider and can't pay privately for services elsewhere.
-
If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be able to receive partial reimbursement for therapy after paying for sessions directly.
We collect payment at the time of service and can provide you with a superbill, which is a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company. Your insurance company then determines whether they will reimburse you, how much they will reimburse, and whether your deductible needs to be met first.
Because every plan is different, we recommend contacting your insurance company before beginning therapy to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits. Helpful questions to ask include: Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient therapy? What is my deductible? What percentage of each session is reimbursed after my deductible is met? Do I need prior authorization?
While we’re happy to provide superbills, reimbursement is not guaranteed and is ultimately determined by your insurance plan. Please note that insurance companies require a diagnosis to reimburse for services.

Yes! You’re welcome to use your HSA/FSA benefits to pay for therapy with us.
-
If it feels like a mutual fit, we’ll schedule your first session, send intake paperwork through our secure client portal, and reserve a recurring weekly appointment time. We can take these steps at the end of our call if you feel ready, or you’re also welcome to take some time to think about it before deciding whether to move forward. If we don’t feel like the right fit for any reason, we’ll always point you toward referrals or next steps that may better match what you’re looking for.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
We typically meet weekly. Therapy is most effective when there is consistency, especially in trauma therapy, where trust, pacing, and nervous system safety are foundational to the process. Weekly sessions help us build momentum and stay connected to the deeper work week to week, rather than spending much of our time catching up after longer breaks.
If scheduling or finances make weekly therapy difficult, we may be able to meet every other week when clinically appropriate. Please let us know if this is something you’d like to explore.
-
We see clients on a recurring weekly schedule during daytime business hours. Each client has a consistent day and time, which protects your space in our calendar and supports continuity from week to week.
-
We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged the full session fee.
This policy allows us to protect the time reserved for your care, manage our schedules, and offer available appointment times to clients who may need them.

For the vast majority of clients, yes. Since 2020, a large portion of our practice has been virtual, and we’ve found that meaningful, connected therapy can happen consistently across both settings.
Virtual therapy offers more flexibility, eliminates commute time, and allows you to access care from a space where you already feel comfortable. We’ve found that many clients who are skeptical at first actually end up preferring it.
