healing through connection
we are wounded in relationship and we heal in relationship
When we’ve experienced trauma, grown up in an abusive or neglectful family, or spent years feeling unseen, simply seeing an expert or undergoing the most evidence-based methods of therapy may not be enough.
When we’re hurt in our relationships, we actually need to experience what it’s like to be held, witnessed, and accompanied in a safe, attuned relationship in order to heal.
I needed this myself, and in 2019, I found my therapeutic home in AEDP - first as a client, and soon after in my training as a therapist. Experiencing the work myself gave me a felt sense of what was missing in more traditional approaches, and I knew I wanted to be able to offer something deeper to my clients in the way my own therapist did (and still does) for me.
AEDP takes the relationship between the client and therapist and actually utilizes it as part of the healing process itself, rather than just a backdrop to the work. Through our connection, we can begin to reshape what your nervous system expects from relationships: that your emotions can be held by others, that closeness can feel safe, that you don’t have to push through when things get tough, and that you can remain connected to yourself while being connected to someone else.

AEDP for childhood emotional neglect
Our childhood shapes so much of our experience in adulthood. If you didn’t get what you needed on an emotional and attachment level - yes, even with parents who tried their absolute best - your system has learned to operate from a place of aloneness and disconnection instead of togetherness and interdependence.
Aloneness can absolutely be traumatic, especially for children. And its impact can trickle down into adulthood through the imprints of isolation, hyper-independence, and self-protection.
These were adaptive strategies to help you stay okay all on your own. You needed them, and it’s common for those same necessary protective mechanisms to cause barriers in your life today.
Undoing aloneness, together
You may look like a total go-getter on the outside. Confident, successful, and competent in every way. But your inner-world may tell a very different story. Maybe you’re constantly terrified of the worst thing happening, feeling paralyzed in some areas of your life and overcompensating in others. Or maybe you constantly doubt whether you’re doing enough, worthy of where you are in life, or deserving of the relationships you long for.
A nervous system stuck in a cycle of fear and shame is one way we can see the effects of a childhood steeped in aloneness. AEDP is a model built specifically for this type of attachment wounding, helping us work with its impact where it still shows up today - in your body, your relationships, and the unmet needs we can begin tending to together.
a glimpse into the aedp way
AEDP is a transformative, relational model designed to help you process past wounds and reconnect with your authentic self. These four foundational pillars shape how we move through the healing process together.
undoing aloneness
01.
our relationship is the vessel for healing. We’re not meant to live, process, or heal in isolation. Our nervous systems weren’t built for it, yet that’s often where we find ourselves, sometimes even in therapy. Undoing aloneness doesn’t simply mean having someone to talk to. In AEDP, the relationship we build together is deep and intentional. It’s centered around healing the specific places you’ve been hurt in other relationships and offering your system a new experience of relating and connecting through the dynamic we co-create together.
what's needed for change already exists within you.Nothing is missing inside of you and you are not broken - I promise. In AEDP, my role as your therapist is to trust in your innate strengths and resilience, even when it’s hard for you to get there yourself. I step into the role of ‘transformance detector’, noticing the small glimmers of growth that may otherwise be fleeting and helping you sink deeper into them. Over time, the new and positive change we foster together will become your new baseline, trickling down into other areas of your life.
harnessing your innate capacity to heal
02.
holding the parts that were left behind
03.
tend to your inner child and heal old wounds at the root.In AEDP, we see your current triggers as your inner child’s way of signaling for help and asking us to tend to their unmet needs. Together, we track these somatic imprints moment by moment, gently working with your protective strategies so we can reach the places where your younger self felt abandoned, unseen, or alone. By welcoming your inner child’s emotions - like grief, anger, fear, and sadness - we give them the experience of safety, care, and attunement they deserved all along.
coming home to yourself
04.
uncover and reclaim who you've always been. The landing place in AEDP is a return to your most core, authentic self. We get there by processing what’s happened to you, helping your nervous system release what it’s still carrying, and rooting more fully into the present together. You deserve to truly know yourself and to orient your life and relationships around feeling at home in your body and mind, rather than around survival.
Frequently Asked Questions | AEDP Therapy in Denver

While the name sounds like a mouthful, what it means in practice is actually pretty simple, warm, and human:
Accelerated: Change doesn't have to take years of sitting in pain. Real change doesn't have to take years of sitting in pain. We refer to this as “healing from the get-go” - not as a promise that everything is fixed overnight, but as a commitment to cultivating meaningful shifts from the very beginning, even if they start as little glimmers of relief or hope.
Experiential: We don’t just talk about change, we experience it together. AEDP holds that true transformation happens when a person has a new, lived experience of a core emotion or relational connection that is actually felt in the body and processed in connection with someone else (in this case, your therapist).
Dynamic: AEDP is dynamic in that, instead of following static protocol, it follows the evolving flow of your experience, our connection, and your body’s organic pull towards healing when given the right conditions.
Psychotherapy: The simplest part of the acronym. A professional, safe, and collaborative therapeutic space for your whole self to feel seen and cared for.

Traditional talk therapy often stays in the head, focusing on cognitive insights, behavior, or learning coping mechanisms. It works from the top down, while AEDP works from the bottom up. AEDP is:
Experiential over intellectual: We don't just discuss your emotions and experiences, we help you safely feel and reprocess them at a nervous system level. This is often the greatest difference clients sense when they start AEDP after being in traditional talk therapy.
Active therapist stance: As an AEDP therapist, I don’t show up a blank slate or neutral observer. I am actively engaged, warm, and emotionally present with my clients. I’m wholly bought into their healing process and the role I play in it.
Focus on positive transformation: In AEDP, we focus just as much on what’s changing - even when it’s really subtle - as we do on reducing distress and processing pain. We explicitly focus on slowing down to really integrate moments of relief, connection, pride, and healing, so they aren’t fleeting and can instead become part of your new nervous system framework.

Yes! I am a Level 3 AEDP therapist and have been actively practicing the model since 2020. Beyond completing the advanced clinical training required for Level 3, I also engage in regular private AEDP consultation with a certified supervisor.
In true AEDP fashion, this consultation process itself is experiential - we regularly review session recordings together so I can receive precise, real-time feedback on my work. No matter how many years I spend in this field, I remain deeply committed to honing my craft and showing up for my clients with intention, presence, and skill.

For me, AEDP feels like landing safely at home. Within its frame, I find that I can be my truest self, and invite my clients to root into their truest self alongside me.
And when we dive in to what feels heavy and hard, we do so with intention, warmth, and an explicit sense of holding. Clients often describe the emotional release that happens here as a wave that washes through and clears out once it reaches the shore, rather than a storm that sweeps them away or a wave cut off mid-swell.When we’re rooted in togetherness, this kind of healing becomes possible.
